Namsai, Oct  27: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein attended the Inaugural Session of the North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) General Council Meeting hosted by the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) at Namsai today.
The event brought together student leaders and youth representatives from across the Northeastern states to deliberate on key issues such as education, employment, cultural preservation, and regional unity.
The Deputy Chief Minister commended the participation and enthusiasm of the student leaders from across the region stating that the coming together of student’s leaders from diverse communities and states demonstrates the shared vision and commitment to work towards welfare of the students community.
He emphasised that India’s greatest strength lies in its youth, who make up nearly 64% of the nation’s population. The youth of the Northeast, he observed, are vibrant, talented, and full of potential,  their ideas, creativity, and determination are vital to shaping the Nation’s future.
Mei also highlighted the Northeast’s growing presence on the national stage, particularly in sports, where Arunachal Pradesh now ranks third after Manipur and Assam. He expressed pride in the achievements of the region’s young athletes, artists, and innovators who continue to bring laurels to their communities.
Welcoming delegates to Tropical Namsai, he described the district as a land where nature, culture, and youthful energy coexist in harmony. He called upon the youth to preserve this balance while pursuing modern growth and innovation.
The session was attended by Chief Advisor, NESO Dr. Samujjal Bhattacharjya, Chairman, NESO Samuel Jyrwa, Secretary General, NESO Mutshikoyu Yhobu and representatives from seven Northeastern states. The gathering reflected the unity and shared commitment of the region’s youth towards progress and collaboration.
The Deputy Chief Minister reaffirmed the Government of Arunachal Pradesh’s continued support for youth-led initiatives and expressed confidence that forums like NESO will further strengthen inter-state cooperation and nurture leadership across the region.
Earlier in the day, Mein also attended the Poi-Lu-Phra, Lu-Kongmu Lu-Kathina & Khamsang Ceremony at Phra Sutong-Pey Buddha Vihara, Manfaiseng Village. He unveiled the boundary wall of the Pubbana Sasana Rakkhita Buddha Vihara, donated by Nang Amseng Namchoom and family, and expressed gratitude for their contribution towards preserving the rich Buddhist heritage. He also appreciated Ven. Khantipala Bhikkhu and the Manfaiseng Monastery Seva Committee for organizing the spiritually enriching event and promoting the values of compassion and peace.
