PASIGHAT Apr 17: Continuing its crackdown on drug addicts and peddlers in the district, the Pasighat police team led by SI Mungrey seized 276.9 gm of Ganja (marijuana) and 5 tablets of Dicolic from the possession of 3 youths and arrested them on Friday last vide Pasighat PS Case. No. 61/17 U/S 20(b)(ii)(A)/21(a) NDPS Act.
Appreciating the police for the timely interception and arrest of the youths, the Women Against Social Evils (WASE) here have strongly appealed the district administration and police not to grant bail to the youths arrested under NDPS Act so that it acts as a deterrent to others. As per WASE General Secretary, Joya Tasung Moyong easy bail out of drug addicts and peddlers despite police arrest has somewhere led to undermining the value and fear of police and its punishment due to which the illegal business and its use are still flourishing. The public, administration and police all need to jointly fight against the drug menace so that crime related to drugs can be reduced at least if not to completely checked, she added.
