PASIGHAT, May 5: Under the ongoing Operation Dawn 2.0, the East Siang Police apprehended a drug peddler and seized approximately 7.63 grams of suspected heroin.
Acting on credible intelligence, which had led to seizure and apprehension of one drug peddler namely Usman Ali (Ahmed) of Saw mill area, Pasighat, near Ruksin Petrol Pump the Anti Drug Squad (ADS) of East Siang Police planned an operation and caught the peddler, Usman Ali red handed, who is known to be involved in the illicit sale of narcotics for a long time. The operation was lead by ADS Incharge, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ayup Boko which included SI K .Dagium, Ct.K.Perme, Ct.P.Kiger and L/Ct.K.Atraham.
The seizure was done in strict compliance with the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, in the presence of CO Ruksin (Executive Magistrate).The apprehended person was brought to Ruksin PS along with the seized items and handed over to the OC PS Ruksin and case was registered.
Superintendent of Police, East Siang, Pankaj Lamba, commended the efforts of the ADS team and reiterated the district police’s firm commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug-related offences. He further urged the public to report such illicit activities, stressing that community cooperation is vital in ensuring a drug-free East Siang. DIPRO
