ITANAGAR, Jun 26: A team of Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society in collaboration with the One Stop Centre , Naharlagun and Child Welfare Committee, Itanagar Capital Region observed International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at Anganwadi Centre of Sekey Colony, Itanagar with women and children.
Adv Kani Nada Maling , President of APWWS highlighted that the day is observed across the world  to encourage people to quit drug addiction and live a healthier life and the day is dedicated specifically to prevent drug abuse and trafficking. 
She said that today individual family as well as society is facing challenges due to drug problem. Drug addicts should be handled with respect and sympathy without stigma and discrimination so that they will  come out and seek help,  she added.
Adv Likha Asha, Chairperson of Child Welfare Committee, Itanagar Capital Region spoke about the Narcotics Drugs and Pyschotropic Substance Act 1985 and informed that there is stringent punishment for those who are involved in drug trafficking and there is no leniency for offence committed under this Act.
Adv Ribbom Riba, Case Worker, One Stop Centre, Naharlagun shed light about various services provided under  One Stop Centre.
