Yachuli, Oct 29: The District Election Office (PR), Keyi Panyor District conducted the Draw of Lots for 33% Reservation of Seats for Women in the Zilla Parishad and Gram Panchayats.
The significant event was held at Yachuli under the chairmanship of Shweta Nagarkoti Mehta, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Keyi Panyor District.
The draw was conducted in the presence of Administrative Officers, Heads of Departments, PRI Members including Zilla Parishad Members and Gram Panchayat Members, Presidents, Chairpersons, and other representatives of political parties, media personnel, and members of the general public. The process was carried out in an open, transparent, and impartial manner to determine constituencies reserved for women candidates in the forthcoming Panchayat elections.
As per the finalized draw results: Out of six Zilla Parishad Constituencies, two constituencies — 01-Yazali and 02-Pithapool — have been reserved for women. Out of 192 Gram Panchayat Constituencies, 64 constituencies have been reserved for women. Out of 46 Gram Panchayat Chairperson posts, 17 have been reserved for women.
The Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), Likha Teji, appealed to all PRI members, political representatives, and the public to extend their continued cooperation and active participation in the forthcoming Panchayat elections, ensuring that the democratic process is carried out smoothly and in a free, fair, and transparent manner.
The District Election Officer, Shweta Nagarkoti Mehta, congratulated all the constituencies reserved for women and emphasised the importance of women’s representation and leadership in grassroots democratic governance.
