ITANAGAR, Mar 17: Minister of Art & Culture, Dr Mohesh Chai has called upon the students to be more sincere towards their education and not to let the efforts of their parents and families go in vain.

He was speaking during the 20th Pre-Mopin celebration at Donyi Polo Govt College, Kamki in West Siang district today. He also appealed to the students to avoid the consumption of any kind of drugs or intoxicating substances.

While informing that the government under the leadership of present Chief Minister Pema Khandu is working hard to give more importance to education and health sectors, Dr Chai said that steps are being initiated to streamline the education sector by introducing smart classes in every government school in phase-wise manner.

Further, he lauded the students for trying to preserve and promote the culture and traditions of Arunachal in DPGC.

“We should preserve and promote our culture. If we don’t preserve our age old culture, one day our tribal identity will completely vanish, and our ethnicity will remain only in history,” asserted Dr Chai.

He also informed that the government has recently decided to introduce science stream at DPGC Kamki from the next academic session, while also disclosing that Rs 4 crore has been kept in the budget 2017-18 for construction of new block for science stream in the fiscal year 2017-18.

Parliamentary Secretary Zignu Namchoom said that DPGC Kamki would witness rapid developments very soon as Local MLA Nyamar Karbak is constantly pursuing every possible development in the government level to bring positive changes for the college.

Extending pre-Mopin greetings, Daporijo MLA Dikto Yekar also appealed to the students treat the college as a temple of learning and refrain from unwanted activities.

Local MLA Karbak also extended gratitude to the state government for keeping aside a budget for introduction of Science stream in the college in budget 2017-18.
