ITANAGAR, Feb 11: The 2nd Badminton Championship 2023-24 organised by the Prasar Bharati Doordarshan Kendra, Itanagar got underway at the Dorjee Khandu Indoor Badminton Stadium here on Saturday.
Shuttlers from Doordarshan Kendra (DDK), Itanagar and Arunachal Press Club (APC) are participating in the two day event that will come to an end on Sunday.
Capital superintendent of police, Jimmy Chiram, who inaugurated the competition in the presence of DDK, Itanagar, head of programme Mahesh Sharma and others, appreciated the organizers for encouraging the members of the state’s media fraternity to participate in sports.
He further called upon the participants to give their best not just in the tournament but in everything that they do in their respective lives.
“Somebody will always become number one when you participate in competitions (sports) but the actual winners are the participants,” Chiram said, while extending his best wishes to all.
Also present on the occasion were, DDK deputy director (engineering) S P Kanchan, assistant directors A Nimje, L Gururajan and S Tatwadi, Goi Gara, Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) general secretary Sonam Jelly and tournament organizing chairman Goi Gara and general secretary Lipi Nyodu .
The finals of the event, supported by the Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA) led by its COC secretary Penya Bagra, will be played on Sunday.
