DOIMUKH, Aug 2: In a significant breakthrough, the Doimukh Police arrested two individuals, Kedar Sah (41) and Amar Kumar (35), in connection with a gold theft case that targeted residents of Yupia. The suspects, originally from Bhagalpur, Bihar, were apprehended after being identified through CCTV footage and a social media tip-off.
According to a press briefing by the Superintendent of Police of Papumpare Taru Gusar, the suspects posed as cleaners to gain access to the residence of one Yamhan Digli and Genia Digli. They offered to clean the kitchen utensils and silver items with some special chemicals, gaining the trust of the victims. During the visit, the suspects requested the victims' gold chains under the pretext of cleaning them. The victims complied, handing over their chains.
The suspects then instructed the victims not to touch the chains for an hour. Upon retrieval, the victims noticed that the chains were significantly lighter, which raised suspicions and led to an investigation. A thorough review of CCTV footage confirmed the identities of the suspects.
Kedar Sah and Amar Kumar were apprehended in Likabali on August 1last. The police are currently investigating whether the duo is part of a larger scam operation. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
The Doimukh Police commended the cooperation of the public in providing crucial information that led to the arrests and advised to exercise caution and verify the credentials of individuals offering similar services.
