TEZU, Jul 4: The District Skill Committee (DSC) meeting was chaired by the DSC Chairman, Deputy Commissioner Lohit, Shashvat Saurabh with Head of offices in attendance. The agenda of the meeting was to set in motion the purpose of the DSC in the district and the roles and responsibilities of various departments therein. 
The meeting started with a welcome address from the DSC Member Secretary, DDI Lohit, Pem Chom Lama who set the motion for the rest of the meeting. MGNF Lohit, Deepanshu Raj gave a holistic presentation about Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship, SANKALP programme of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and the role of the District Administration in improving the skilling ecosystem. The presentation showcased a survey of skill aspirations and skill gaps of the youth of the district.
The DC emphasised on the significance of skill trainings and the necessity of convergence between line departments for realisation of the same. The line departments were advised to prepare proposals for skill trainings to be conducted and the sub-committees of DSC were advised to provide ground assistance for the same wherein skilling of youngsters should be targeted at.
Extra emphasis was laid on preparing an overall Skill Gap Report by conducting surveys in Lohit District. This report would translate to the preparation of District Action Plan with respect to skill and livelihoods. Post-training assistance was given importance to.
Lastly, before winding up the meeting, it was stressed that such skilling should start at young and enterprising age, hence the youth of the district to be targeted for such skill programmes.
