Yupia, Jul 3: A meeting of the District Cooperative Development Committee (DCDC) was convened   here at the DC Conference hall, Yupia on Monday to prepare the district plan for setting up of new Primary Agriculture Credit Societies(PACs) or primary dairy/fishery cooperative societies on the basis of the gap analysis from the National Cooperative database.
The committee members also discussed modalities to revive and strengthen the existing PACS and LAMPs including dovetailing of various schemes of the government at the level of PACs or primary dairy/fishery cooperative societies to improve their viability and make them vibrant economic entities, to provide necessary infrastructures and logistic support etc.
Chairing the meeting Deputy Commissioner  Cheechung  Chukhu advised the Cooperative department to compile a block wise data of the existing PACS/LAMPs in the district to “assess their credibility and  pave way for new societies by liquidating the non-functional ones.”
The DC also advocated using the PRI members during the registrations to ensure all the Panchayat/villages are covered by PACs and further   emphasized on handholding by the departments in the registration of the new PACs.
Techi Kaku, ARCS presented a powerpoint presentation on the genesis of the cooperative movement and efforts of the Government to strengthen the cooperative movement in the country /state by deepening its reach up to the grassroot levels.
Among others District Agriculture Officer Maze Piel, DVO Dr. Monya Kato, Kumud Chandra Sonowal, BM, Apex bank, Naharlagun, Mary Techi, Assistant Manager, APEX Bank, Nagrang Techi, Assistant Fisheries Officer, Ngurang Takap, PRO to ZPC attended the meeting. (DIPRO)
