YUPIA, May 5:A meeting on South-West Monsoon-2017 disaster preparedness for Papumpare District was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Tai Kaye.

In his address, the DC highlighted on the importance of disaster preparedness and appealed to remain alert and prepared to tackle any situations. Calling for teamwork during any emergency, he said that the district has sufficient manpower, Paramilitary forces, NDRF and Police personnel to tackle any kind of situation in the district. He further lauded the ITBP and NDRF for their constant support during any emergency call in the district.

Taking serious note about the lack of proper emergency resource inventories and emergency equipment, the DC said that the government should provide sufficient budgetary support to procure the emergency equipment for emergency situations. He also pointed out that Papumpare district still does not have fire fighters despite repeated correspondence with the government it is yet to be materialized.

Expressing concern over recurring drowning cases in upper stream of Pare river, the DC instructed 
the DDMO to put up warning sign boards in all the vulnerable points to warn the people. He also asked 
DDMO to maintain proper records and contact details of all nodal officers in all departments to remain prepared for any situations during monsoon.

Taking note of Food and Civil Supplies preparedness for the monsoon, he also directed the DF& CSO to ensure sufficient food grains stock for the monsoon especially for Police personnel posted at border areas and students. He also asked the District Medical Officer to maintain sufficient life saving drugs for the monsoon.

Other administrative officers also spoke on the occasion.
