DC inaugurates school amenity
PANGIN, Jul 29:
The fourth and final in the series of awareness programmes held at various locations in Siang District today concluded at Boleng. A highly informative discourse was given on generating awareness about fire accidents and other natural disasters to the students of GHSS, Boleng which included a detailed power point presentation by SFO PC Roy from Fire Station Naharlagun and various educative videos on natural disasters. This was followed by demonstrative exercises for students and general public in Boleng General Ground. The programme was attended among others by DC Siang Rahul Singh and ADC Boleng T Pado.
The programme which kick started at Kerang Village on July 25 last was followed by programmes at Kaying, Pangin and Boleng. The programme saw active and mass participation from all students, teaching faculty and staff of schools and the general public. In Pangin all HoDs and other officers also actively participated in the demonstrative exercises.
The programme also focused on imparting expert knowledge on medical assistance and community participation, role of various stakeholders etc during disasters apart from precautionary and preventive measures and sensitization on disasters. Detailed information about the role, responsibilities and functions of DDMA was also given in order to familiarise the participants with the department as it is the nodal department to deal with disasters in a district.
This programme was organised by the District Disaster Management Authority Siang in close coordination with the Directorate Fire Services Naharlagun, the Police and Medical Department.
