Deomali, Jan 2: Digboi Battalion of Red Shield Division under the aegis of Spear Corps as part of 'Op Sadbhavana' organised a day and night football tournament for both men and women at Deomali with the aim of bringing youth to mainstream by spreading the message of importance of sports and adopting a fit lifestyle. The tournament commenced on December 10 and the final was played on December 30. 22 teams in the men's category and 8 teams in the women's category from the TCL region participated in the tournament showing their commitment towards the game and grabbing the opportunity to showcase their talent at the field.
The final was won by Youngster FC in Girl's category while United Brothers FC emerged as the winner in the men's category.
The tournament witnessed the overwhelming participation from teams and spectators across all walks of life. Digboi Battalion used this platform as the opportunity to distribute sports items worth Rs 1.5 lacs under 'Op Sadbhavna' to the villagers of Deomali Circle of Tirap District.
