Shillong, Sep 22: The theme song and logo for ‘Destination North East 2020’, an annual event for promoting tourism in the Northeast organised jointly by the North Eastern Council (NEC), Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and North East Region Community Resource Management Project (NERCORMP) was held here at the NEC Secretariat on a virtual platform on September 21 last.
Attending the launch ceremony, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of DoNER Dr Jitendra Singh while stating that the event aims at bringing the region closer to the rest of the country, informed it will be conducted semi-virtually this year due to Covid pandemic and will be inaugurated by Home Minister Amit Shah on September 27. The DoNER Minister hoped that post-Covid, Northeast will have a lot more to offer being relatively unaffected by the pandemic and can become an alternative destination for tourists who usually prefer European resorts for holidays. Closing ceremony will be held on September 30 to be graced by Union Ministers Rameshwar Teli and Kiren Rijiju.
