ITANAGAR, Mar 7: Chief Minister Pema Khandu informed that the demands for including Arunachal Pradesh under the sixth schedule as well as the Amendment of Article 371 (H) to protect the right of its indigenous people are still pending in the Centre. The Arunachal Pradesh Assembly had first sent the proposal in 2004 and then later in 2020, when the Assembly had moved a resolution for the same and sent it to Ministry of Home Affairs. He said that the government has been following up the matter.
Khandu was responding to a Private Member’s Resolution moved by MLA Ninong Ering to take steps for creation of more autonomous regions for smooth functioning of development and better administration as in the case of states where 6th schedule is prevailing.
