ITANAGAR, May 24:The Galo People’s Front today came out in support ofGeneral Secretary of Galo Welfare Society (GWS), Dr. Minge Loyi after his recent statement at a press conference held in the state capital led to the Deputy Commissioner East Siang District, Tamiyo Tatak threatening to file a defamation suit.

Terming it ‘unfortunate’, the GPF said whatever Dr. Loyi has stated is in the capacity of the General Secretary of the GWS.

‘As the GS, he is competent to question the failure of law and order situation to the concern district authority (DC, East Siang) in public interest and it is not to defame any individual. Thus, the impending suit seems just another diversionary tactic quite uncalled for, which demeans the stature and gravity of the very post,’ said President GPF, Nyadaar Loya.

Also terming the Dharmendra Sharma led committee report as biased and incomplete, the GPF also decried the use of ‘Adiland’ by the ABK over individual land properties of Galo community at Koyu and Kora circles during the referendum rally on April 30 last.

  ‘Claiming Koyu and Kora as Adiland has no basis as such it is illogical and has no locus standi. The tall claims via Geo mapping and others also stands null and void as the proposal for the District had the prior approval​ of the then DC, East Siang,’ said Loya further.
