ITANAGAR, Dec 9: The aggrieved compassionate candidates of police department have appealed to the home department to complete the selection process of remaining 27 posts in the department through free and fair process at the earliest.
Addressing the media at the press club here today, one Talen Padung said that the entire selection process for the post should be on priority basis and should not include the recent compassionate candidates. He said there are 183 candidates who have been left out since 2019.
In 2019, around 508 candidates applied for appointment through compassionate grounds, among which 325 were selected leaving out the 183. Moreover, the department didn’t even clarify the reason behind the rejection of the remaining left out candidates, Padung said.
The 27 posts, including two posts of head constable (T), 24 posts of constable and one post of constable (driver) were sanctioned in November 2019 for appointment on compassionate grounds, and these posts are still lying vacant in the department.
“We the candidates also organised a dharna at IG Park near here demanding immediate filling up of the remaining post in priority basis. Following which the Home Minister Bamang Felix assured to act on the matter but sadly, till today there is no response on the matter,” he said.
Padung also informed that in the gap of 3 months, today there are around 358 candidates including the 183. Therefore, while recruiting candidates for the 27 posts, the department should ensure that the first batch of candidates are given priority.
He requested the home department to immediately fill up the post before the numbers increase in the years to come, thereby creating chaos among the candidates.
“The most concerning matter for the candidates is finalising of the new guidelines in recruitment by the department. The new recruitment guideline is the reason why the 27 posts are still not being filled,” he said, appealing to the department to immediately finalise the guidelines through the state government.
The 183 candidates have waited for long and the department should not neglect the matter which concerns the livelihood of the deceased police family, Padung said.
