ITANAGAR, Jul 29:
The District Disaster Management Authority Capital Complex in collaboration with NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) 12th Bn organised a Community Awareness Programme on basic dos and don’ts of Disaster Management at Chandranagar Itanagar today. The i/c DC Talom Dupak urged the residents of the area to take advantage of such an opportunity and gain knowledge regarding various safety tips during disasters and how to cope with it in case of its occurrence. He stressed that such an information can then be passed on to others.
Highlighting the aim of the programme, the FO DM Jogam Angu Gusar informed that the programme would give basic information on how to conduct oneself during disasters. She also highlighted the working of the EOCs (Emergency Operating Centre) and also informed about the 24 hrs toll free helpline number ‘1077’ issued by the DDMA.
During the programme, the NDRF team gave brief demonstration on the basic steps/ techniques of rescue during disaster and also highlighted the use of improvised tools/ methods from locally available resources. The NDRF team displayed several techniques for rescuing people in distress as well as displayed different rescue equipment. The team also focussed more on precautionary measures and rescue techniques during flood as the area had witnessed the same this year.
The programme was attended by the residents of upper valley colony, students from Senki Rijo primary school and others.
Earlier the CAP was organised in various locations of the capital complex including Bharat Scout and Guide Naharlagun which saw participants from 5 other districts.
