Khonsa, Jul 5: As part of the nationwide Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, Deputy Commissioner of Tirap, Techu Aran, along with the Deputy Director, ICDS, and DIPRO Khonsa, visited the New Life Foundation Rehab Centre at Old Tupi today.
The visit aimed to raise awareness about substance abuse, advocate for a drug-free society, and extend support to individuals undergoing rehabilitation.
During the visit, the DC conducted a thorough inspection of the facility to ensure adherence to health and safety standards and to assess the overall environment for the inmates' recovery.
The DC also interacted directly with the inmates, encouraging open dialogue and listening to their personal experiences and challenges faced during rehabilitation. He administered a pledge to the inmates, motivating them to commit to a life free from addiction—reinforcing the message of resilience and hope.
In a show of solidarity, the DC participated in a friendly volleyball match with the inmates and local villagers. The activity promoted community bonding, physical fitness, and teamwork.
The DC further inquired about relapse cases, discussing the importance of effective aftercare and support systems to help inmates reintegrate in society and reduce the chances of relapse.
The visit highlighted the Tirap administration’s commitment to creating a supportive ecosystem for rehabilitation and fostering a long-term vision of a drug-free community. DIPRO
