Yingkiong, Nov 26: Deputy Commissioner, Upper Siang District, Talo Jerang, along with SP Token Saring inspected the 43 km Jido–Palling PMGSY Road today. The inspection team travelled on a tractor due to the ongoing construction, as the road is not yet motorable for light vehicles.
This Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana(PMGSY) road project, being executed by the Yingkiong RWD Division, aims to connect Palling CO Headquarters with Tuting Sub-divisional Headquarters, passing through Jido, Angging, Singging, and Palling villages. Notably, Palling CO Headquarters is already connected to Yingkiong District Headquarters by a 61 km PWD road from the opposite side.
The formation-cutting work has been roughly completed up to Palling village, and the final formation cutting is expected to be completed by 31st January 2026. Construction of culverts, CC drains, retaining walls, breast walls, GSB, WBM, and BT is targeted for completion by 31st March 2026, as assured by the contractor’s engineering team.
During the field interaction, the DC appreciated the contractor’s engineers, machine operators, and workers for the progressive pace of work. He also instructed both the contractor’s engineers and RWD officials to ensure strict adherence to quality standards at every stage of construction.
PMGSY roads are constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, a central government scheme launched in 2000 to provide all-weather road connectivity to unconnected rural habitations. This is a poverty reduction strategy that aims to improve the socio-economic condition of rural areas by linking them to larger networks with proper infrastructure. DIPRO
