Tuting, Sep 16: The Deputy Commissioner, Upper Siang District Talo Jerang undertook comprehensive field visits to Tuting Sub-Division’s ongoing developmental projects  and villages to assess development needs, strengthen administrative outreach, and inspect  infrastructure projects.
The DC accompanied by ADC Tuting, OC 1448 BCC, ZPM Gelling-Payinden Block, ZPM Palling-Zido Block, and local youth representatives from Gelling village, conducted a feasibility study of the proposed Gelling – Bishing Defence Road. This road holds strategic significance in improving connectivity and enhancing national defence preparedness.
The DC also visited Kepang La Pass, which is guarded by Indian Army and ITBP personnel, and expressed appreciation for their dedicated efforts in guarding the borders.
During the same visit, the DC inspected Gelling, Norbuling, and Kopu villages, and interacted extensively with BRO officers, Army and ITBP Jawans, Gram Burass (GBs), PRI members, villagers, and local youths. These interactions provided valuable insights into the region’s development priorities, infrastructure gaps, and security challenges.
Earlier, on 15th September, the DC visited Singa CO HQ, Payinden CD Block HQ, Kugging, Nyereng, Nyukkong, Yortung, Mankota, Tashigong, Silapi, Simuge, Old Singa, and Angasi villages. During these visits, the DC emphasized the importance of periodic visits by District Heads of Departments (HoDs) to remote villages for direct interaction with the local population, identification of challenges, and facilitation of developmental initiatives.
