YUPIA, Mar 2: Deputy Commissioner Papumpare has called for putting to use all tourism infrastructure and amenities that are lying defunct or underutilized in the district.
DC Tai Kaye who is also the chairman of the District Tourism Promotion Council, said this in the DTPC meeting held at his office today to discuss the status of tourism promotion. He further asked the
District Tourism Officer to keep monitoring the tourism assets in the district.
DFO Banderdewa also expressed that there should be a Tourist Information and Reception Centre in all important entry points of the district for the benefit of tourists.
Tour Operator John Panye also stressed on raising awareness regarding the tourism potential
of the district by conducting tourism promotion activities. He also pointed out that tourist lodge cum convention hall needs to be established near the Railway Station, Naharlagun to facilitate visitors.
Earlier DTO Tater Mize apprised the chairman about the present status of tourism in the district.
