Itanagar, Aug 17:  Proper waste management is the need of the hour and hence collaborative effort of all concerned is required, said Deputy Commissioner Capital Itanagar Talo Potom today at a meeting held to discuss various issues pertaining to solid waste management, bio medical waste management, etc,.
The DC said that it is mandatory to install Effluent Treatment Plant or Sewage Treatment Plant in all the hospitals and health centres and asked the DMO in-charge Dr Giri Tali to submit a report in this regard. The issue of common biomedical waste management was also discussed with the CMS TRIHMS Dr Dukhum Raina. 
The DC asked the Highway Authorities to look into the matter of proper muck disposal. He also asked the Department of Mining to strictly check the issue of rampant illegal mining and to notify the guidelines to the public.
Observing that despite ban on earth cutting, few people are still involved in the same, he sought cooperation of all to stop such menace.
SDPO Dekia Gumja said that the Police is ready to provide all kind of cooperation for such drives.
He also asked the Deputy Chief Wildlife Warden to check on the issues of illegal mining in the wildlife areas.
Representatives from market bodies were also asked to ensure installation of Effluent Treatment Plant/ Sewage Treatment Plant in all the hotels, automobile workshop etc.
Officers from Arunachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board Naharlagun highlighted the various aspects of pollution and the need of proper waste/garbage management system.
Other issues like building material disposal, open defecation, illegal slaughter houses were also discussed in detail.
