Tezu, Apr 17: The District Health Society (DHS) and District Task Force for Immunization (DTFI) meeting for the Financial Year 2024–25 was held today at the Mini Secretariat, Tezu. The meeting was conducted under the chairmanship of K. N. Damo, Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman, District Health Society, Lohit District.
The meeting witnessed active participation from key district officials, including Dr. C. L. Manchay, District Medical Officer-cum-Vice Chairman, DHS among others.
Dr. S. Towang, District Surveillance Officer, shared insights into the district’s progress under the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) programs. He reported a steady decline in malaria incidence over the last decade, showcasing the effectiveness of ongoing public health interventions.
Chairman K. N. Damo expressed appreciation for the commendable performance of the health sector during FY 2024–25. He emphasized the importance of greater collaboration between the Health Department and other key sectors such as Education, ICDS, and Women & Child Development. He also called for stronger cooperation with Defence organizations present in the district.
Highlighting the crucial role of community health workers, the Chairman urged for enhanced motivation and support to ASHA and Anganwadi Workers, particularly in improving key child and infant health indicators through Home-Based Young Child Care (HBYC) and Home-Based Newborn Care (HBNC) programs.
