PASIGHAT, Jan 4: One of the famous pilgrimage destinations of East Siang district, the Dangaria Baba temple located in Raneghat is all set to be renovated and extended with a new adjacent structure whose foundation was laid on December 31 last.
The foundation laying ceremony was attended by Pasighat East MLA Kaling Moyong, PWD Chief Engineer Er. Atop Lego, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kinny Singh,  EE PWD Er. T. Taki, EE WRD Er. Dibang Tayeng and others. The new and renovated temple will house all the God and Goddesses in one big structure and the new construction is being done within the existing premises where a big banyan tree ‘Sirot/Rotne’ is located. The big tree is said to be more than 150 years old and the Dangaria Baba temple is constructed in the trunk/ground of the tree where devotees throng in to offer prayers almost daily and a major event of Dangaria Mela takes place here on the last Saturday of every year wherein thousands of devotees from across the country and foreign countries visit.
This year also devotees turned up in large numbers on December 26 despite the COVID pandemic.
