ITANAGAR, Aug 31: The District Advisory Committee meeting on PC & PNDT Act 1994 was conducted under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner Capital Itanagar, Talo Potom at his office on Tuesday.
The District Advisory Committee meeting was conducted in the wake of the visit of the National Inspection and Monitoring Committee to the state which had found anomalies with few ultra sonography (USG) machines in hospitals and clinics of the state capital Itanagar under PC &PNDT Act 1994 and subsequent sealing of such machines by the District Administration.
District Medical Officer in-charge, Dr Giri Tali also the vice chairman of District Advisory Committee highlighted details on PC&PNDT Act which covered areas such as USG registration, use of machine & record keeping.
He stressed on registration and use of USG machine and also registration of doctors using USG and also locum doctor. Stressing on the importance of record keeping, he said that the records should be kept minimum two years in the facility unless there is no medico legal cases (MLC) registered. 
Dr. Bombei Tayeng, Senior Gynaecologist said that there is lack of awareness on PC & PNDT Act in the hospitals.
Asserting that male and female genders are treated equally in the state, she insisted on the importance of awareness on PC & PNDT Act.
Also highlighting about the process of registration, she informed that except Radiologist and Gynaecologist, the doctors using USG should have requisite qualification under PC & PNDT act.
Among others, EAC Khoda Lasa, Ratan Anya Chairperson OWA, Dr Usha Devi DANO and Gyamar Taku DA( PC&PNDT) had attended the meeting.
