Yupia, Apr 21: Airfield Environment Management Committee (AEMC) convened a meeting today under the Chairmanship of Papumpare deputy commissioner Sachin Rana, to discuss on making the Aerodrome premises safe for operation of aircrafts. 
In the meeting, Air Traffic Services (ATS) In-charge, Tapash Nath informed that activities of animals and birds in and around the Aerodrome is considered as a potential source of hazard to the safe operations of aircrafts. He also informed about the Rule 91 of The Aircraft Rule 1937 which prohibits dumping of garbage and slaughter of animals that may attract wildlife within 10 kms radius of Aerodrome Reference Point. 
DC Yupia, Sachin Rana suggested to constitute a Hollongi-Kokila Sub-Committee comprising of administrative officers and Panchayat leaders which is to be headed by the ADC Balijan to ensure that no garbage and animal carcases are disposed openly to prevent gathering of animals and birds in and around the airport. The house present decided to issue notification prohibiting running of slaughter houses and also limiting the height of buildings near the airport as per the guidelines issued by the Civil Aviation Ministry. 
The next meeting of AEMC will be held in June next. 
Donyi Polo Hollongi Airport Director,  Dilip M Sajnani was also present.
