ITANAGAR, Mar 17: The capital complex administration has issued prohibitory orders on the sale and consumption of Tobacco/ Gutka/ Cigarettes/ Pan masala, etc in and around 100 metre radius of educational institutions and hospitals within its jurisdiction.
Issuing the order under the Cigarettes and other Tobacco Control Products Act (COTPA), 2003, District Magistrate, Capital Complex, Prince Dhawan, said that consumption of Tobacco/ Gutka/ Pan Masala while adversely affecting the general health of the students also disturbs the academic environment. He further cautioned that violation of the order may lead to prosecution under relevant provisions of law.
