Four-year action plan to be chalked out as combat strategy

Itanagar, Nov 27: The 2nd State Level Apex Body Committee meeting of Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) was held today here at the conference hall of the Civil Secretariat under chairmanship of Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar.
IGP Ravindra Yadav, Commissioner Home Kaling Tayeng, Secretary Health P. Partibhan and other senior officers from the departments of Tax & Excise, Forest & Environment, State Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) attended the meeting. After having a thorough deliberation on the current overall and district-wise drug abuse scenario in the state, the Chief Secretary directed the State NCB to form a Committee to prepare a comprehensive four-year action plan to curb the menace. The proposed committee will comprise representatives from the departments of Health, Education, SJETA, Police, Agriculture, Horticulture, Arunachal State Rural Livelihood Mission and Education.
It was decided that besides covering all dimensions ranging from effective coordination between law enforcement agencies and stakeholders, the Committee will also suggest measures/policies to address the pressing issues of drug abuse and its trafficking, de-addiction, rehabilitation, awareness programmes related to NDPS policy and other operational matters.
The Chief Secretary directed all the enforcement agencies and stakeholders to maintain proper coordination and put up a collective fight against drugs in the state. PRO CS
