ITANAGAR, Dec 9: Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar today while attending the 2nd meeting of the state level multi-disciplinary coordination committee for control and coordination of narcotics, drugs & psychotropic substances here at the civil secretariat, called upon all the law enforcing agencies of the state to use their full machineries to control, prevent and eradicate the menace of drugs from the state.
IGPs Ravindra Singh Yadav and Sagar  Preet Hooda, Zonal Director Narcotics Control Bureau Rakesh Chandra Shukla, Secretary Tax Excise and Narcotics Anirudh S. Singh, Secretary WCD Niharika Rai, senior officers, DCs and SPs were present in the meeting. To address the increasing menace of drugs affecting the youths including women of the state, CS directed the DCs and SPs to undertake robust measures to check and prevent the menace in their respective districts in particular and the state in general. Besides directing the officials to develop intensive IEC campaigns in schools and colleges involving NGOs, CBOs and other organizations to sensitize the young generation about the ill effects of drugs, he further suggested the Tax, Excise and Narcotics department to tie up with the cellular service providers and FM Radio channels to send/telecast awareness messages in local dialects. He also suggested incorporating ‘No Drug Campaigns’ in districts with a well-known cultural personality as Brand Ambassador. Direction was given to undertake extensive and detailed survey of the respective district and destroy illegal opium cultivation in presence of NCB representatives.
CS also directed all the DCs and SPs to constitute anti-drug squads like the Circle Level Task Force in their respective districts at the earliest. PRO CS
