KHONSA, Jun 4:36 Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force deployed at Khonsa is celebrating Golden Jubilee of its raising. 36 Battalion was raised at Pfutsero, Nagaland on 1st of June 1968 by merging 2nd PAC of Uttar Pradesh.
The unit deployed at early stage to counter Naga insurgency and its performance in counter terror operation against surrogate terrorism in Kashmir and Punjab was highly appreciated. The deployment in Assam to counter Bodo insurgents and counters Naxal operation during deployment at Bihar and Jharkhand is praise worthy.
Presently, it is deployed in Tirap and Longding districts of Arunachal Pradesh for Counter insurgency problems since 2008. The Battalion is celebrating its Golden Jubilee under the command of Commandant SR Behura and various programmes comprising sports and literary activities were organised to mark the occasion.
Deputy Commissioner, Tirap, PN Thungon, MLA Dadam Terong Aboh were among the dignitaries present.
