BOMDILA, Apr 22: Following the state government's directive to contain the second wave of Covid-19,the  Administration and  Health department of  West Kameng has set up two Covid-19 testing centers at the points of entry into the district.
Speaking to the media, District Medical Officer (DMO), Dr.RD Thongchi said that the department has already set up testing centres at Bhalukpong and Balemu. He said that active screening has been initiated in both the entry points. However, civilians who have not tested for Covid-19 are not allowed to enter from the Balemu entry point. The entry and screening at this point (Balemu) is reserved only for the military and the Para-military personnel, he added.
DMO further informed that the civilians are directed to enter the district from the Bhalukpong check gate with proper screening.“We have already reactivated the district COVID Care Centre (CCC) and designated Covid Healthcare Centre (CHC). Even the rosters have been prepared and accordingly sufficient manpower has been placed,”he said.
Dr Thongchi also informed that as of now the district has 38 Covid active cases. All cases are asymptomatic as per reports and patients are under home isolation as of now.Among all, 3 are from Bomdila, 27 are military personnel, 1 SSB personnel and 3 civilians from Dirang, 3 civilians from Rupa and 1 civilian from Nafra, he added.  
Meanwhile, he also appealed to the public as well as the military personnel to follow the standard operating procedures issued in the interest of the public by the state government in the fight against the COVID pandemic 2.0.   
West Kameng district stands third in the row after Itanagar Capital Complex and Lower Dibang Valley in the numbers of Covid-19 active cases.
