ITANAGAR, Sep 20: The President and Secretary General, Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) called on Commissioner Education, Niharika Rai and expressed resentment regarding suspension of Narendra Pramanik, Associate Professor (Chemistry), DNGC, Itanagar without valid and strong reasons. CoSAAP has demanded immediate revocation of the suspension order.
The duo stated that the assistant professor could have been served a Showcase Notice affording him to clarify the allegation of the misconduct. Without thoroughly verifying the facts, taking  stringent action in haste against an efficient faculty is illogical and an act of discouraging for other sincere officials, they said.
The CoSAAP leaders also explained that as a Centre Superintendent, Mr. Pramanik delivered his duty sincerely and fairly in conducting APSSB interview on 18th August at DNGC.
The incident at Exam Hall No. 25 in DNGC Centre during the examination was an isolated case and the examinee who indulged in cheating could be apprehended because of the sincere efforts of the invigilators and able guidance of the Centre Superintendent. If there was any negligence or lapse in the duty leading to use of the mobile phone in the examination hall, it is primarily due to the lapse from the frisking team appointed by the District Administration. Further, it is still a big question as to how the internet service was available despite mobile jammers installed near the examination halls. Mr. Pramanik has no role in conducting frisking and installing mobile jammers, the Association said.
The Commissioner stated that the suspension order had to be issued on recommendation and pressure from APSSB as the case was not connected with the Education Department. At the same time, the Commissioner Education  stated that the accused professor has submitted representation clarifying his innocence in the alleged misconduct. The representation is under process for reconsideration of the government, she said.
The CoSAAP leaders also met OSD to Minister Education and highlighted the matter and expressed similar sentiments.
They have also advised the OSD to apprise the matter with the Education Minister for immediate revocation of the impugned suspension order as they could not meet the minister.
Mr. Pramanik is innocent and being a HoD of Chemistry Department and Academic-in-Charge for Science Stream, he has huge responsibilities in teaching as well as other academic activities in the Dera Natung Govt. College, Itanagar, the members said.
