PASIGHAT, Apr 3: A district level convergence meeting with stakeholder departments   on promotion of International Year of Millet 2023 was held at DC Conference Hall here today, organized by the DD ICDS and District Nodal Officer, Poshan Abhiyan, WCD.  The objective of the meeting was to take forward the promotion of Millets and creating mass awareness on the nutritional and health benefits of millets in line with the theme of International Year of Millets 2023.
The meeting also marked completion of the month long successful celebration of the 5th Poshan Pakhwada  in Mebo, Ruksin and Pasighat ICDS projects of the district from March 20 to April 3.
Chairing the meeting, ADC (Hq) ,Oli Perme, lauded the   collective  efforts  of the CDPOs, Supervisors, Gram Sevikas and Anganwadi workers (AWWs) and all stakeholders  of the district led by the Deputy Director  ICDS,  East Siang  for the successful celebration of Poshan Pakhwada, towards  spreading   awareness on the importance of proper nutrition for  children, adolescent  girls and women  in particular and the community  in general.  The ADC also appreciated the creative display of wide array of recipes made from millets and locally available vegetables displayed on the occasion to spread the message of nutrition.  She urged all to continue to work in a concerted manner to popularize millet as integral part of our healthy diet and to promote millet cultivation.
Earlier, Deputy Director  ICDS, Machi Gao, in her keynote address  on the International Year of Millets 2023 and celebration of Poshan Pakhwada 2023, highlighted  that as per the  themes,  special focus has been given for promotion and popularization of Shree Anna/ Millets for nutritional well-being, promoting healthy competition for nutrition under Swastha Balak Spardha for healthy child, popularizing saksham Anganwadi. She informed   that intensive activities have been carried out in all the three ICDS projects with support of line departments. 
She also highlighted on Poshan ke Paanch sutras components--hand washing, sanitation, combating Diarrhoea, Anaemia, first 1000 days of the Child, PoshtikAahar  (wholesome meals).
Earlier, CDPO, O.Panyang, also presented an overview of activities covered ranging from  Recipe Competitions in Anganwadi Centres, exhibitions on Millets & vegetables, Poshan pledge, Home visits for promotion of millets and backyard Kitchen Garden,  Diet Consultation for Sampoorna Aahar , Village Health & sanitation day etc .
