ITANAGAR, May 16:

Highlighting the plight of contractors due to nonpayment of bills of various development works done under the umbrella of Food Corporation of India in the state, the Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation has strongly condemned the concern authority for delay in releasing the genuine payments of contractors without any valid reason.

Informing that few contractors have earlier approached the FCI office at Itanagar for immediate clearance of pending bills, the union alleged that the reason being cited by authority about delay in releasing bills was completely baseless and in some way to harass the contractors for bribe.

“Halting of payments of contractors has led to delay in required quantity of rice reaching concerned districts several times and we cannot blame the contractors for the error committed by the FCI office,” added APPTF strongly urging the General Manager, FCI to immediately clear the pending bills.
