ZIRO, Mar 16: Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs, Lower Subansiri District unit in collaboration with Neeti Society Ziro (NS) observed the World Consumer Rights Day on Wednesday with the theme “Building A Digital World Consumers Can Trust Digital Technology” at Ziro Valley School, Lempia (Old Ziro).
“Though people know their rights as a consumer but they quite often forget to fulfill their duties. If we could do our duties sincerely as a responsible citizen, most of the problems in society would be done away with,” said, EAC Mokar Riba.
He also appealed participants particularly students to gain maximum knowledge from the event to practically apply them in the day to day life.
Debia Tana, Inspector LM&CA led with a demonstration on the usage of weights and measures and goods that are sold in packaged forms. He further explained some of the basic rights of the consumers which can be exercised at the time of purchasing goods as well as services. He also highlighted about the redressal agencies that are available at the district, state and national level which have been set up specifically to safeguard the rights of the consumer, and also disclosed some of the cases that are disposed under the district consumer court.
