ITANAGAR, Jan 25: The Stakeholders Consultation meet for preparation of ‘Revised State Action Plan on Climate Change (SAPCC 2.0)-Arunachal Pradesh’ commenced today here at the Papum Hall of DK State Convention Centre.
PCCF (Env & CC) A. J Kurian inaugurated the session in presence of PCCF (WL & BD) G. Kumar, PCCF (RE & CEO Campa) Shri Rajesh, Director (Env & CC) D. Dohu Robin, representatives from IORA Ecological Solution Pvt Ltd, New Delhi and officers from the line departments. The consultation meet will continue till January 29 and the State Climate Change Cell, Department of Environment and Forests has engaged IORA Ecological Solutions as the technical agency to support the revision of the SAPCC. As part of the review and revision process of the existing Arunachal Pradesh State Action Plan on Climate Change 2011, stakeholder consultations will be carried out to identify, validate and prioritize sector-specific climate risks and vulnerabilities of the state for designing appropriate climate adaptation and mitigation strategies. The revised SAPCC will quantify financial requirements, identify probable funding sources and develop M&E frameworks to track progress and provide feedback for improvement of SAPCC 2.0. SAPCC 2.0 is designed following the common guidelines for Revision of State Action Plan on Climate Change issued by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
The 11 sectors prioritized by the state government to mainstream climate change adaptation and trigger mitigation actions are Agriculture, Water, Forestry & Biodiversity, Habitats, Human Health, Tourism, Disaster Management, Energy, Transport, Industry and Knowledge Management.
