ITANAGAR, May 23: In response to the allegations made by the Longding District Students' Union (LDSU) regarding illegal appointment of Primary Teachers (PRTs) in Longding District, Minister of Education  Er. Taba Tedir, chaired a meeting on Monday aimed to address the issue and take appropriate action against the alleged illegal appointments.
During the meeting, it was reported that show-cause notices had been issued to all the individuals identified as having been illegally appointed as teachers. The Minister advised the department to proceed with necessary actions as per the law and resolve the matter promptly.
To investigate the alleged illegal appointments in Longding District, the Minister directed the DDSE and DEEs to submit a detailed report on teacher appointments from 2018 onwards. The final action taken report is expected to be submitted to the Minister within 15 days.
To prevent future irregularities, the Minister ordered the preparation of a district-wise list of teachers working in various capacities and a reconciliation of their salaries by the respective DEEs. This measure aims to detect and avoid any kind of anomalies or illegal appointments in the future. Additionally, all DEEs were instructed to submit monthly salary release certificates for teachers in their jurisdictions by the first week of every month.
In order to conduct a thorough inquiry into the alleged illegal appointment of Primary Teachers in Longding District, a committee has been formed. The committee consists of Ira Singhal, IAS, Special Secretary Education, as the chairperson, and  Sode Potom Joint Secretary Education, as well as  Pill Topu, Under Secretary Education, as members. The committee is expected to submit its report within seven days, by May 29 next.
Meanwhile, during the meeting, the Minister of Education expressed disappointment over the 10th and 12th standard examination results for the year 2023. He urged all teacher organizations, including the All Arunachal Pradesh Teachers' Association and the central body of All Arunachal Pradesh Samagra Shiksha Teachers Association  to collaborate with the Education Department and discuss ways to improve the pass percentage in future exams.
