ITANAGAR, Jan 5: The East Kameng Social Welfare and Cultural Organisation (EKSWCO)–led Fact Finding Committee has strongly appealed for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) inquiry into the alleged Lada–Sarli Frontier Highway compensation scam, demanding exemplary action against all those involved.
Addressing a press conference, EKSWCO led Fact Finding Committee Chairman Chopa Cheda expressed grave concern over what he described as large-scale irregularities, corruption and misuse of public funds linked to the compensation process of the strategically important Lada–Sarli Frontier Highway project. He stated that serious lapses in the fact-finding exercise had come to light, particularly the omission of Packages 1 and 3, which has raised serious questions over the credibility and transparency of the process.
Cheda asserted that after careful observation and inputs received from reliable sources, EKSWCO believes that a fresh, transparent re-survey is essential to ensure justice to genuine landowners and to fix responsibility on corrupt officials and middlemen. He demanded the immediate arrest of all government officials and private individuals, including brokers and those associated with various banks such as SBI, PNB, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Canara Bank, Apex Bank and other financial institutions, especially if links are found with the Seppa branch.
Stressing the seriousness of the alleged financial misconduct and breach of public trust, EKSWCO called for the immediate handing over of the case to the CBI and ED to ensure a free, fair and impartial investigation. The organisation also demanded departmental enquiries against all involved officials, termination of service of those found guilty after due process of law, and recovery of the misused and embezzled public money, along with initiation of appropriate legal proceedings.
Why only DLRSO, all officials involved in the scam must be arrested?, said Cheda while demanding proper security for social activist Sol Dodum and others who are getting frequent threats from various corners.
Highlighting the strategic and developmental importance of the Lada–Sarli Frontier Highway for East Kameng district and the region, Cheda urged the government to take immediate steps to resume and complete the pending work of the project without further delay. He maintained that development cannot be compromised by corruption and that the people deserve accountability, transparency and timely execution of public infrastructure projects.
