ITANAGAR, Feb 6: All Arunachal Tribal Rural Panchayati Restoration Andolan Committee has flagged concern over the allotment of land under Forest Reserve in Namsai district to private individuals including the family of the state's Deputy Chief Minister. The Committee has urged the Chief Secretary to cancel all the Land Possession Certificates, NOCs of allotment orders of such land  possessed by individuals.
Speaking to the media, Chairman AATRPRAC, Maji Tayem claimed that in cahoots with forest officials of Namsai District, land that falls under Forest Reserve have been allotted to private individuals. He also alleged that due to the negligence of Forest officials, illegal deforestation is taking place inside  Tengapani Reserve Forest, Tuning Reserve Forest, Namsal Reserved Forest, Kamlang Reserve Forest, Kampoi Reserve Forest, Khameng Reserve Forest, Manabhum Reserve Forest, Nao Dihing Reserve Forest and Payong Reserve Forest in Namsai district.
Tayem further said that Namsai has at least 15 Lakh hectares of land, and that the family members of the Deputy Chief Minister have occupied more than 5 Lakh hectares of land.
"We have also questioned the issuance of NOC to the Deputy CM through RTI and we have found that DFO-Namsai has issued NOCs to private individuals under Forest Reserve areas. Therefore we appeal to the authority to immediately cancel all the NOCs, LPCs and land allotments issued against the forest areas. We also demand the state government to take action against erring officials," he added.
