ITANAGAR, Jul 31:In yet another incident which is enough to send alarm bells ringing among capital dwellers including law enforcing agencies, a girl was found brutally murdered at her rented apartment at Lekhi village, Naharlagun early this morning.

The deceased identified as Migrik Lomi, aged around 24 years, hailing from Kabu village under West Siang District was pursuing her Masters degree in Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU).

Upon being alerted by neighbours early this morning, a team from the Nirjuli police station immediately rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.

When enquired officer in-charge (OC) Nirjuli, Inya Ete informed the presence of multiple injury marks on the head, face and hands of the deceased.

‘When we searched the room there was no sign of forced entry or any sign of robbery as everything in the room was left untouched. It is a suspected case of murder and we suspect that there may be involvement of close friends or people known to the victim,’ he added.

However the OC clarified that as of now nothing can be said and investigation has been launched.

After conducting of post-mortem, the body has been handed over to the family for the last rites.

A case of murder has been registered vide under IPC- NRJ/Ps case no-29/17 u/s 3012 against unknown persons at police station, Nirjuli.

Meanwhile, the Galo Students' Union (GSU) and West Siang District Union (WSDSU) have strongly condemned thegruesome murder and have strongly urged the Police authorities to launch speedy investigation so that culprits are nabbed.

‘Over the past few months, such incidents have been recurring in the capital complex area which has instilled a kind of fear psychosis among the denizens. The Home department should take due note of it and initiate stringent measures to contain such happenings so that life and property of the citizens could be secured,’ both unions said in a release. 

North East Human Rights Organization (NEHRO) Arunachal state unit While condemning the incident has strongly appealed the concern SP to expedite the probe and nab the culprit(s) to grant justice to the victim and her bereaved family. We are deeply shocked over recurrence of such incidents in the capital and extend our condolence to the victim’s family, it said in a release.

NEHRO also appealed the capital police to expedite the probe to arrest all the culprits involved in the murder of Ojing Taying, who was murdered at Itanagar on June 10 Last. Home department must come out with a effective policing stream. Capital is gradually turning into a hotspot of crimes and other anti social activities, it further stated.
