Ziro, Apr 1: The NSS Cell of St Claret College (Autonomous), Ziro, successfully concluded the first phase of its NSS Special Camp at its adopted village, Lempia, Old Ziro. The three-day camp, held from March 28 to March 30, 2025, aimed to promote social responsibility among students through various community service and awareness programs.
The camp commenced with a cleanliness drive, where enthusiastic NSS volunteers took part in improving the hygiene and sanitation of the village. Their active participation reflected a strong commitment to environmental well-being.
On the second day, an awareness programme on the effects of junk food was conducted at Ziro Valley School, Ziro. The session educated school students about healthy eating habits and the negative impact of junk food on overall health.
A major highlight of the camp was a street play on ‘Gender Equality’, performed by the NSS volunteers. Through a compelling and creative presentation, the play emphasized the importance of equal opportunities for all genders, fostering awareness and inclusivity in society.
The final day saw an adventurous trekking expedition to Pakhu Akhii Putu, a site recently recognized for hosting Ziro Valley’s first-ever paragliding test. A total of 110 student volunteers participated in the trek, showcasing teamwork and a spirit of adventure.
