ITANAGAR, Jun 15: Following the swearing-in ceremony at the DK Convention Hall which attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President J P Nadda, Chief Minister Pema Khandu has allocated portfolios to his cabinet ministers.
Chowna Mein, the Deputy Chief Minister, retains his extensive portfolio, covering Finance, Planning and Investment, Tax & Excise, State Lotteries, Economics & Statistics, Power, and Non-Conventional Energy Resources. Blyuram Wahge has taken over as the new Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Water Resources.
Nyato Dukam is now responsible for Commerce & Industries, Labour & Employment, and Information, Public Relations & Printing. Gabriel D Wangsu has been assigned Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Dairy Development, Fisheries, Food & Civil Supplies, Legal Metrology, and Consumer Affairs.
Wangki Lowang will oversee Environment & Forests, Geology, Mining & Minerals, and the Department of Tirap, Changlang, and Longding. Pasang Dorjee Sona has been appointed Minister of Education, Rural Works, Parliamentary Affairs, Tourism, and Libraries. Mama Natung takes charge of Home and Inter-State Border Affairs, Public Health Engineering & Water Supply, and the Department of Indigenous Affairs.
Dasanglu Pul, the lone woman in the cabinet, has been given the portfolios of Women & Child Development, Cultural Affairs, and Science & Technology. Balo Raja will manage Urban Affairs, Land Management, and Civil Aviation. Kento Jini has been assigned Law, Legislative and Justice, Social Justice, Empowerment & Tribal Affairs, and Sports & Youth Affairs. Ojing Tasing is responsible for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Cooperation, and Transport.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu retains all departments not specifically assigned to other ministers. This announcement follows the recent assembly elections, further solidifying the BJP's governance in Arunachal Pradesh.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, Chief Minister Pema Khandu stated, "All the portfolios have been assigned to the concerned ministers by looking at their past experiences. We are committed to the development of the state and need equal cooperation from the citizens to fulfill this as Team Arunachal."
He further added, "As BJP is committed to empowering women, we have given the relevant department to the concerned woman representative. Though she is the lone woman minister in the cabinet now, in the coming years we will definitely give more seats to women in the cabinet," assured CM Khandu.
