ITANAGAR, Jan 30: The Centre for Earth Science & Himalayan Studies (CES&HS), Itanagar in collaboration with PRATYeK and NINE IS MINE participated in National Inclusive Childrens Parliament 2022 along with the students of Government Higher Secondary School Ganga, Itanagar through Zoom Meeting here today at AP Science Centre, IG Park. More than 20 students participated in the National Parliament on the theme 'Child and Earth Rights.'
Addressing the students, Director, Centre for Earth Science & Himalayan Studies (CES&HS), Tana Tage dwelt on the impact of human activities responsible for Climate Change and global warming. He exhorted the students to be beacon of message for Climate Change, who can bring changes in the mindset of people through their positive actions. Expressing dismay over fast declining forest cover in Arunachal Pradesh, he said every year, it is contributing in rise of temperature which may lead to extinction of living creatures in future, if alternative mitigation measures are not adopted.   
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Vivek Kumar, Curator, Arunachal Pradesh Science Centre, IG Park expressed hope that the student community can play important role in preserving and protecting the planet earth from the impact of climate change by adopting best practices and through awareness.  
The Childrens Parliament on Climate Change adopted resolution demanding hike in budgetary allocation for children’s healthcare sector from 3 to 6% in next financial year. It also demanded for more participation of childrens movement for environmental protection activities and urged the central government to bring in law to discourage the use of single use carry bag made of plastic and encourage the use of carry bags made of jute as well as encourage jute farming to generate more employment avenues. Children’s Parliament also adopted a resolution demanding increase supply of fertilizers to poor and needy farmers at subsidised rates, investing in research to study the intersection of climate change, increase digital coverage as children’s education was badly hit by global pandemic, greater awareness in schools and communities etc . 
 The newly elected Prime Minister of Children’s Parliament on Climate change 2022, Miss Tejaswini Prerona from Assam requested the Chairman, Standing Parliamentary Committee on Climate Change and Deputy Opposition Leader, MP Gaurav Gogoi who while participating has assured to raise the issues adopted in today. He assured to be the voice of childrens concern on climate change and join hands on combating global challenges on climate issue.  

PRATYeK is a child rights organization that convenes the national child-led advocacy initiative called NINEISMINE. Children from NINEISMINE network are actively advocating for child and earth rights. UNICEF India and NINEISMINE are working together to gather the voices of children on the current status of child rights in India.
