Itanagar, Mar 8: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights under the Chairmanship of Ratan Anya, Chairperson, held a review meeting on Friday to discuss the establishment and operation of Day Care Centres, Play Schools and Rehabilitation Centres for Child With Special Needs (CWSN) in the state at the Directorate of Women and Child Development, Itanagar.
The meeting aimed to formulate proper coordination by authorities for registering and proper monitoring of these establishments in the interest of safety and security of children. The Commission also shared its observations and findings from recent visits to various Rehabilitation Centres for CWSN, Day Care Centres and play schools operating under the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).
The Departments of Education, Health, Social Justice &Empowerment of Tribal Affairs, Women & Child Development, Itanagar Municipal Corporation & District Administration, ICR presented Power Point Presentation of their activities.
It is also seen that the term Daycare centre is synonymously used with Creche and Play schools, with Pre-schools due to which there is lack of clarity amongst departments concerned. Hence the Commission suggested the department of WCD to take up proper registration and monitoring of all private Day Cares operating in the state in addition to government Creches. Similarly the Department of Education has been advised to monitor the activities of all the playschools running in the state.
The meeting was attended by the Members, APSCPCR, Member Secretary, APSCPCR and representatives from the Department of Health, Education, Itanagar Municipal Corporation, Social Justice and empowerment of Tribal Affairs, Women &Child Development and District Administration, ICR.
