Roing, Jul 7: Child Helpline, Roing was launched today by the District Child Protection Unit, Roing and Department of Women and Child Development,Lower Dibang Valley.
Deputy Director (ICDS) Cum DCPO, G. A. Perying formally launched the Child Helpline in the district, which has been taken over by the government from Childline India Foundation (CIF) and its partner NGO running it earlier. She focused on the automation of Child Helpline Unit (CHL)-1098 under Mission Vatsalya and informed that all the calls landing to 1098 shall be routed to the WCD control room and to the CHL. The DCPO informed that the Child Helpline unit in the district works under the overall administrative control of the District Magistrate who is available round the clock and will provide outreach service for children in crises linking them to emergency and long term care and rehabilitation services. 1098 is a national toll free service 24x7 helpline number dedicated for children in difficult situations, she informed.
