Itanagar, Jun 11 : Chief Secretary, Manish Gupta, reviewed the status of monsoon preparedness in the state in a meeting held in his conference hall, today. The meeting was attended by DGP, Arunachal Police, Principal Secretary (Home), Commissioners (Finance/Health), Secretaries, Civil Aviation/PWD/WRD/ RWD/UD/PHED/Power, representatives from NDRF, SDRF, Telecom, IMD, APSAC, Deputy Commissioners and SPs from all the districts.
In view of the recent havoc created by heavy rainfall across the state which claimed 12 precious lives, the Chief Secretary directed all the Deputy Commissioners to be ready with all resources to tackle any eventualities due to natural calamities. He insisted all the DCs, SPs and other Heads of the Offices to be stationed in the headquarters during the monsoon season. He also directed the key departments to ensure buffer stock of essential items, medicines, etc well in advance upto the grassroot level to avoid hardships due to its scarcity. He directed all the key departments to be prepared to restore essential services immediately in case of any disruptions due to natural catastrophe.
Stating communication system as vital during any disaster situation he directed the Deputy Director General, Telcom to maintain mobile connectivity functioningespecially during the monsoon season and ensure uninterrupted power supply to the facility centres.
The Chief Secretary also requested DGP, Arunachal Pradesh Police to review the functionality of WT stations across the state.
Earlier, the learned Chief Secretary was briefed upon by the Secretary DM, Shri Dani Salu on monsoon preparedness activities carried out by the Department of Disaster Management and status on monsoon damages across the State.
Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary, Civil Aviation exhorted all the Deputy Commissioners to keep all thehelipads functional in their respective districts for emergency recue and relief works.
