Wakro, Apr 29: In a significant move to boost religious and adventure tourism in Arunachal Pradesh, Chief Secretary Manish Gupta, visited the sacred pilgrimage site Parshuram Kund at Wakro on Tuesday. During the visit, he inspected the ongoing developmental works under the PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) scheme, aimed at enhancing infrastructure and facilities for pilgrims and tourists.
Accompanying the Chief Secretary were officials including Lohit Deputy Commissioner KN Damo, Superintendent of Police Thutan Jamba, ZPC Dasula Krisikro, ADC Wakro A.J. Lungphi, CE, Superintendent Engineer, and Executive Engineers of the PWD Namsai Division. The team inspected various components of the PRASAD scheme implementation. The CS emphasised on the importance of maintaining quality to ensure visitors experience at this spiritually significant site.
Parshuram Kund, located on the banks of the Lohit River, attracts thousands of devotees every year, particularly during Makar Sankranti. The development of this site under the PRASAD scheme is expected to significantly boost religious tourism while preserving its cultural and environmental sanctity.
In a unique effort to promote adventure tourism and diversify the state’s tourism offerings, the Chief Secretary and his entourage participated in a rafting expedition from Parshuram Kund to Alubari. The thrilling event was organised by the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, State Lotteries, and SJETA under the leadership of Abu Tayeng, showcasing Arunachal’s untapped potential for adventure sports.
