ITANAGAR, Apr 11:  Union Minister for Law & Justice, Kiren Rijiju who is also the Member of  Lok Sabha, Arunachal West reiterated  that the Chakma-Hajong will never get Permanent Citizenship in Arunachal  Pradesh.
Responding to questions by reporters on the central government’s strategies to deport Chakma- Hajong community from Arunachal Pradesh, Rijiju categorically reiterated that   Chakma- Hajong can stay in the state temporarily but they can’t stay here as a permanent resident and will never get permanent citizenship in the state. "Union Home Minister Amit Shah has also straight forwardly stated that Chakma-Hajong cannot be permanent residents of Arunachal Pradesh as it is a protected territory," Rijiju said.
it’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government who took the initiative to resolve the long pending issue, before that the then union government ignored the local citizens of Arunachal Pradesh and didn't take their consent on whether  Chakma-Hajong should be allowed to settle in Arunachal or not, asserted Rijiju.
The  Union Minister further added that since 1964 the population of Chakma-Hajong has increased drastically and has led to encroachment of forest lands. We have also urged their community leader to support the government in searching for alternative land for them. We have respectfully told them to cooperate with the government and avoid asking for any permanent citizenship in Arunachal Pradesh, stated Union Law & Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju.
