ITANAGAR, Apr 30:Chairman Arunachal Pradesh horticultural produce marketing andprocessing board(APHPM&PB) Kipa Niya, met Governor PB Acharya regarding the development of the state as the horticultural hub of the north eastern region.

Briefing on issues affecting state farmers and for the welfare of the growers, the Chairman highlighted that the state lacked post harvest facilities like sorting, grading, packing, branding, value addition etc., resulting in farmers facing acute problems in marketing their products. ‘Moreover, most of the farmers have invested money on elaichi, an important getaway for the produce but the outcome is less compared to the input and also Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) which is a central sponsored scheme but, according to the guidelines of MIDH most of the projects/components related to marketing are 50% to 55% subsidy which our farmers as well as state government cannot afford,’ he said.

The Governor assured his cooperation and called for another formal meeting with the Chief Minister along with the Parliamentary Secretary of Horticulture.
